We are seeking an experienced and self-starting Senior Freight Broker Agent to help lead our team and contribute to the growth of our brokerage.
Job Summary:
The Senior Freight Broker Agent will play a critical role in securing freight opportunities, building relationships with shippers and carriers, and mentoring junior agents. This is a 1099 independent contractor position with competitive commission rates (75% of profit per deal), offering immense earning potential for the right candidate.
Responsibilities:
Business Development:
- Prospect and secure new shipper clients by leveraging your existing book of business.
- Build and maintain relationships with shippers, carriers, and other industry stakeholders.
Freight Operations:
- Negotiate rates with shippers and carriers to maximize profitability.
- Post and manage loads on DAT Load Board and other platforms.
- Oversee the full lifecycle of each shipment, from booking to delivery.
Compliance and Documentation:
- Ensure all loads meet compliance standards, including carrier vetting.
- Prepare and review rate confirmations, BOLs, and other necessary documentation.
Mentorship and Leadership:
- Provide training, support, and guidance to junior agents.
- Assist in developing workflows and best practices to streamline operations.
Performance Management:
- Consistently meet or exceed monthly revenue and load targets.
- Provide feedback to management on market trends and team performance.
Qualifications:
Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in freight brokerage or logistics.
Book of Business: A portfolio of established shipper and carrier relationships is highly preferred.
Skills:
- Proven ability to negotiate rates and close deals.
- Excellent knowledge of DAT Load Board, TMS platforms (e.g., AscendTMS), and other logistics tools.
- Strong leadership, mentorship, and organizational skills.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities.
- Self-Starter: Ability to work independently and take initiative in a remote environment.
