Job Summary:
A Mason is a skilled tradesperson who specializes in working with various construction materials, such as brick, concrete, and natural stone, to build structures like walls, foundations, and other masonry elements.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Knowledgeable on residential and commercial CMUs and accessories, concrete mixes, variations and ad-mixes
- Knowledgeable on accessories for concrete and proper installation of them such as column plates, trench drains, expansion joints, curing and sealing products
- Consistently researches new materials and applications
- Passes information on to crew & project supers
- Layout ability for all residential and light commercial jobs
- Can read building plans confidently and perform any layout task from footings through above-grade structural and decorative CMUs
- Able to set up any concrete pour
- Set up and use a Theodolite and/or site transit
- Organizes jobsite for maximum efficiency and safety
- A resource for crew and project supers
- Keeps jobsite clean and safe
- Is the competent person for scaffold erection and tear-down
- Can run leads and hand finish concrete and verify correct elevations and check for level
- Can build any structure with CMUs of any type
- Can build fireplaces to correct specifications
- Set up, pour, and finish concrete under a multitude of conditions and specifications
- Tracks time and uses information to predict completion dates and production benchmarks
- Manages crew to maximize productivity and quality
- Verify delivery tickets for accuracy
- Completes safety and incident reports for all masonry injuries

- 10 hours of continuing education annually on any building trade related topic
- Own tools and equipment are required
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2-4 years of related experience
