This position is responsible for developing and implementing the business processes, systems, and team needed to ensure consistent product performance and a world-class customer experience. The Director oversees the quality control lab and technician team, while collaborating closely with sales, dispatch, and operations. A successful candidate will bring a technical and analytical mindset, with a strong orientation toward continuous improvement, digital transformation, and environmental responsibility.
The Director of Technical Services must be equally comfortable in the field and engaging with the ownership team —capable of leading quality control operations while shaping long-term strategy around digital tools, customer success, and low-carbon concrete innovation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Direct all quality control and technical functions for ready-mix concrete production
- Help build business processes including incorporating software and artificial intelligence applications to automate and streamline operations
- Ability to manipulate and analyze engineering data in excel and/or suitable scripting languages to prepare technical communications
- Supervise QC technicians, lab operations, and field-testing teams
- Conduct routine testing in accordance with ASTM, AASHTO, and project specifications
- Maintain and calibrate lab equipment and testing tools
- Analyze test results and troubleshoot issues related to mix performance
- Oversee mix design compliance and performance verification for internal and customer requirements
- Collaborate with plant managers, dispatch, and field crews to resolve job-site concerns
- Ensure accurate recordkeeping of test results, certifications, and compliance reports
- Manage documentation for agency audits, certifications, and internal quality reviews
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in concrete quality control, ideally in ready-mix production
- Solid understanding of concrete mix designs, batching systems, and test methods
- Excited by innovation and eager to advance the state of the industry with a special focus on sustainability and process optimization
- Familiar with DOT specifications and commercial construction standards
- Strong communication skills and ability to work across departments
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel locally between job sites and plants
Preferred Qualifications:
- ACI Concrete Strength Testing Technician or higher-level certifications
- Experience working on public infrastructure or DOT projects
- Degree in Civil Engineering, Concrete Industry Management, or comparable/commensurate experience.
- A valid Commercial Drivers License (CDL)

- Visual acuity to read paperwork, view a computer screen, and monitor digital data
- Auditory ability to communicate clearly over phone and radio
- Availability to work over 40 hours per week, including Saturdays and occasional Sundays during peak periods

Pay: $110,000.00 – $140,000.00 per year
