The Hub for Integration, Reentry & Employment (H.I.R.E.), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, works to unify Orange County stakeholders and close gaps in social, political, and economic opportunities for justice-involved youth and adults. Founded in 2020, H.I.R.E. uses research informed and data driven strategies grounded in equity and justice to help people who are justice involved successfully reintegrate into the community.
Position Description
The Volunteer & T.I.M.E. Program Coordinator is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Transforming Integration into Meaningful Experiences (T.I.M.E.) program and volunteer activities including recruiting, interviewing, training, scheduling, and managing volunteers and mentors to ensure their effective contribution to the organization’s mission, often by developing and implementing strategies to attract and retain volunteers/mentors, coordinating with different departments to identify volunteer needs, and promoting available opportunities within the community.
Duties and Responsibilities
_ Programming_
· Develop and execute strategies to identify and attract potential volunteers and mentors through community outreach, social media, and partnerships.
· Conduct interviews and screen potential volunteers and mentors to ensure suitability for available opportunities.
· Design and deliver comprehensive volunteer and mentor orientation and training workshops to equip volunteers/mentors with necessary skills and knowledge.
· Develop training materials and conduct regular refresher workshops to maintain competency.
· Utilize a management system to effectively schedule volunteers/mentors based on their availability and skillset to match appropriate roles and projects.
· Coordinate volunteer shifts and ensure adequate coverage for events and ongoing activities.
· Foster a positive volunteer/mentor experience through regular communication, feedback, and appreciation.
· Organize volunteer/mentor recognition events and award programs to celebrate contributions.
· Maintain accurate records of volunteer/mentor hours, activities, and contact information.
· Generate reports and processes to track volunteer/mentor program performance and identify areas for improvement.
· Collaborate with different departments within the organization to identify volunteer needs and integrate volunteer activities into ongoing projects.
· Provide Mentorship to mentees in T.I.M.E. program as lived experience mentor.
· Assist Case Management Team with Peer Support Groups.
· Build relationships with community partners and organizations to expand volunteer/mentor opportunities.
Performance Standards & Accountability
· Work closely with the Director of Programs to meet program performance standards and ensure program quality and consistency.
Overall Department Responsibilities
· Participate in training and other professional development opportunities to stay abreast of best practices, trends, research, and other information that would support quality and effective programs implementation.
· Attend all relevant department or organization meetings/events.
· Participate in organizational fundraising activities and special events like resource fairs or other community building activities.
· Maintain, update and organize organization related database or electronic filing systems.
· Assist with any other mission or organization-related tasks or duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
Education:
· High School diploma or equivalent required. Completion of college coursework preferred.
Experience:
· Lived incarceration experience and an interest in working with justice-involved populations.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships with volunteers/mentors and stakeholders.
· Strong organizational and time management skills to effectively manage schedules and tasks.
Core Competencies:
· Attention to cultural competence in all engagement activities.
· Willingness to work a varied schedule depending on the needs of the organization including nights and weekends.
· Proficient in basic computer applications such as word processing, spreadsheets, and internet usage.
· Effective record keeping skills.
· Ability to work independently and unsupervised while within the larger context of a team.
· Maintain confidentiality.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $22.00 – $25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 25 – 40 per week
