Essential functions:
- Supports staff training and supervision as assigned.
- Supports implementation of strategies to meet production and sales goals.
- Assist manager with the store maintenance and appearance of the store regarding safety security, cleanliness, appearance and utility.
- Ensures that the store follows all OSHA and Salvation Army safety and security policies and procedures.
- Implements customer development and retention plans; creates an enjoyable shopping experience.
- Communicates with the Store Manager regarding all facets of store operations including updating and sharing all incidents, concerns and ideas.
- Works in conjunction with the store manager to keep income and expenses within budgeted parameters.
- Must be available for a flexible schedule to work early shifts, late shifts, and most weekends, in order to observe and provide training to all store employees.
- Work proactively in conjunction with the store manager to improve the image of The Salvation Army among staff and in the community.
- Protects the resources under their supervision by implementing product control procedures preventing shrinkage through theft or spoilage.
- Support the mission statement of The Salvation Army.
- All other duties as assigned
Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
High School Degree or Equivalent. 2 years of retail experience, thrift experience is a plus. Associates Degree a plus.
Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to speak, write and understand English in a manner sufficient for effective communication with customers, management and co workers.
- Basic computer skills including but not limited to the use of the Point of Sales System; the payroll program and all other programs or systems that are adopted by the TSA ARC.
- Ability to give change accurately.
- Good speaking, hearing and vision ability, and excellent manual dexterity.
Supervisory Responsibility:
Supports the training and supervision the store staff.
Document and provide information requested about direct reports to store manager for a personnel review and corrective action.
Review and approve time and attendance for store personnel using the current payroll system.
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands, handle, or feel; and hear or talk. The employee is frequently required to walk and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; and stoop, kneel or crouch.
The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.
Travel:
May be required to travel to various locations for work or training
Working Conditions:
The work environment for this position is a store environment with a quiet to moderate noise level. The environment may be dusty and may experience temperature fluctuations based on weather.
